Surya Sarathi Majumdar was born and raised in Kolkata, India, attending Don Bosco Park Circus for his schooling. He joined Texas A&M University Kingsville on a partial scholarship in 2005. He graduated with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering in just 3.5 years in December 2008 with Summa cum Laude honours.
Desiring a shift to quantitative management research, he applied for and was accepted to the Fellowship program of the Indian Institute of Management Caluctta in 2009. His major area was Operations Management, and he specialized his research in Data Envelopment Analysis. His thesis was titled “DEA Models and Methods for Efficiency Improvement under Constant Sum of Inputs/Outputs”. He submitted his thesis in December 2013, successfully defending it in March 2014 and graduating as a Fellow of IIMC in April 2014. After obtaining his Fellowship, he joined Shiv Nadar University as Assistant Professor in Decisions and Operations Management in June 2014.
