Areas of Research

The Department of Decision Sciences, Operations Management, and Information Systems at the School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) enthusiastically supports multidisciplinary research activities and initiatives that bring together faculty, supervised/mentored students, and staff with the breadth of experience and expertise necessary to tackle complex and challenging research problems.

The faculty in this department are actively investigating problems in agency-structure integration in industrial supply-chain and related transaction-linked operations; intra- and inter-organizational systems; corporate finance based on board interlocks and governance structures of firms; system dynamics of knowledge and information production; econometric studies of large-scale social systems including higher-education economics and welfare; IT workers’ cultural and social dimensions; the changing nature of supply chains with growing digitalization, and the logistical implications of experimental forms of transport like drones and airships.
